ప్రవచనములు వినగ పరివర్త నొచ్చునే
ఋజు వర్త నొచ్చె ఋక్కు జదువ
మనిషి యందు వలయు మార్పు సహజముగ
వాణి బలుకు మాట నాదు నోట!
తాత్పర్యము (తా):
ప్రవచనాలు విన్నంత మాత్రాన మనిషిలో పరివర్తనొస్తుందా? వేదాలు వల్లిస్తే మంచి నడవడి వస్తుందా? మనిషిలో పరివర్తన సహజంగా మనసు లోనుంచి రావాలి.
English:
If you hear the preachings of Gurus will there be a change in your attitude? By just reading the Vedas, will your basic nature change? Change should come naturally in your mindset.

భయము లేని వాడి బల్కె నిదర్శనము
తనదు తప్పు లేదె తగ్గి బలుకు
తప్పు సేయ గాదె దప్పుడు పలుకులు
వాణి బలుకు మాట నాదు నోట!
తాత్పర్యము (తా):
తప్పు చేశాననే భయం లేని వాడు సౌమ్యంగా మాట్లాడతాడు. తప్పు చేసిన వాడు కప్పి పుచ్చుకోవడానికి తప్పుడు కూతలు కూస్తాడు.
English:
The man who does not have fear and carries conviction that he is truthful, talks in a pleasant tone. The man who commits frauds and tells lies shouts from rooftops to cover up.

పూల వలచెదు వాటిని పార వైతు
జంతు ప్రేమయు కరిగెను జంపి తినగ
నన్ను బ్రేమింతు నందువు నాకు దిగులు
తేట బలికెను ఈ బాణి నాదు వాణి!
తాత్పర్యము (తా):
పూలను ప్రేమిస్తానంటావు వాడుకొని వాడి పోగానే పారవేస్తావు. జంతువుల మీద ఎంతో ప్రేమ చూపిస్తున్నానంటావు. వాటిని చంపి తింటావు. నన్ను ప్రేమిస్తున్నానంటావు. ఏమొ! నాకు భయంగా ఉంది కదా!
English:
You say you love flowers. But you use them and throw away. You say you love animals. But you kill them and eat. You say you love me. I am now afraid, what you will do to me!
61.
తరచి వేమ (వేమన) జూడు చరితను జదువగ
మంచి యనెదొ యతని జెడ్డ యనెదొ
విశ్వదాభి రామ వినమె బ్రేమ
వాణి బలుకు మాట నాదు నోట!
తాత్పర్యము (తా):
కేవలం ఒక వ్యక్తి గతం మీదనే అతని నేటి గుణాలను ఎంచడం సరి కాదు. అతనిలో ఎంతో మార్పు వచ్చి ఉండ వచ్చు కదా? వేమన చరిత్ర చదివితే, “విశ్వదాభిరామ వినుర వేమ” అని నీతి సూత్రాలు మన నోటి నుండి వచ్చేవా?
English:
We can not assess the present qualitative attitude of a person only taking into account his past behaviour. If we read the history of Vemana, would we have recited his Satakam (hundred poems) today.

మీసమొచ్చెనంచు మిడిసి బడి బడతి
ప్రేమ పేరు జెప్పి మీద బడుచు,
తప్పు యన్నచో ముప్పతిప్పలు పెడుదె
వాణి పలుకుమాటనాదు నోట!
తాత్పర్యము (తా):
నీకు మీసాలొచ్చీ రాగానే, ప్రేమ పేరు చెప్పి ఆడపిల్లలను వేధిస్తూ వారిని నానా అల్లరి పెడతావే. వాళ్ళు తప్పు అని అరిస్తే, వాళ్ళను నానా హింసల పాలు చేస్తావు కదా?
English: (On Eve Teasing)
Soon after you attain adolescence, you start singing love songs in front of innocent girls. If they say it is wrong, you start harassing them.
69.
నీకు ఏమి మిగిలె నినుగన్న దలిదండ్రు
లేమి బావుకొనిరి మిగుల దుఖము
గాక యేలనయ్య పొగరు యేమి మిగిలె,
వాణి పలుకు మాట నాదు నోట!
తాత్పర్యము (తా):
నువ్వు హింసకు పాల్పడి ఆడ పిల్లల్ని చంపి వేస్తే నీకు ఏమి మిగిలింది, నిన్ను కన్న తల్లి దండ్రుల కేమి మిగిలింది? ఏలనయ్యా నీకు అంత మదము?
English: (On consequences of increased adolescent violence in the name of love)
With so much arrogance, if you kill innocent girls what remained for you in life and what remained to your parents who struggled to bring you to this stage, except life long sorrow?

అత్త, మామల ఇంట్లో కష్టాలు భరించ లేని వారికి ప్రభ్త్వం ఒక చట్టం తెచ్చింది. ఈ చట్ట ప్రకారం కట్నాల కోసం వేధించే అత్త, మామలను, ఆడపడుచులను కారగృహానికి పంపే వీలు కలిగింది
English:
To provide confidence and security to the women who face trials and tribulations in the house of the in-laws, government brought out a law by which the culprits can be sent to jail.

నీదు తండ్రి తల్లి నీవు కలిసి

తాత్పర్యము (తా):
section 498a వచ్చింది కదా అని ఎదురు వేధింపులు మొదలు పెట్టి, డబ్బు గుంజే మిషతో నువ్వు (కోడలూ), నీ తల్లి దండ్రులూ కలిసి అత్త, మామలని, అమాయకులనీ కారగృహానికి పంపే ప్రయత్నం చేస్తున్నారు కదా? కలి కాలం.
English:
As Sec. 498 a is providing the daughter-in-law, unlimited freedom and protection, she along with her parents are harassing their in-laws, by threats of sending them to jail, to extract money from them. What times have come?

నీవు ఆడబిడ్డ నువు కన్నదదె కదా
ఇంటికొచ్చు బిడ్డ ఈడ బిడ్డె
ఆడబిడ్డ యన్న యలుసదెందుకో

తాత్పర్యము (తా):
తల్లులకి చిన్నపాటి సలహా. మీరు ఆడపిల్లలే కదా. మీరు కన్నదీ ఆడ పిల్లనే కదా. మరి మీ ఇంటి కొచ్చే ఆడ పిల్లని ఈడ పిల్ల కాదు, ఆడ పిల్లని అవమాన పరుస్తారెందుకు?
English:
A small word to mothers. You were a girl child when born. Your daughter was a girl child. But,why do you ill-treat the girl child that enters your house as your daughter-in-law, saying she does not belong here?

ఏడ చూడు యాడ శిశువు బలిపశువు,
కాదు కాదు కాదు తగదు మనకు,
స్త్రీని పూజ సేయ సిరిద నిలుచునట
వాణి పలుకు మాట నాదు నోట.
తాత్పర్యము (తా):
ఎక్కడ చూసినా ఆడ పిల్లలే బలి పశువులవుతున్నారు. ఇది మనకు తగదు. వద్దు. స్త్రీని అవమాన పరిచిన చోట సిరి నిలవదని నానుడి.
English:
Wherever we see, girls are sacrificial goats. It is not advisable. Where a woman is ill-treated, Goddess of Wealth does not stay there, it is said.
86.
చంద్ర సూర్యు లెపుడు చూడగ కానరు,
పోగ వచ్చు నొకరు పగలు రాత్రి
యొకరు కాచు నిన్ను యమ్మ పగలు రాత్రి
వాణి పలుకు మాట నాదు నోట.
తాత్పర్యము:
దైవ సమానులైన సూర్య, చంద్రులు కూడా వంతులు వేసుకుని నిన్ను కాపాడుతారు. ఒకరు పగలు, ఒకరు రాత్రి. రాత్రనక, పగలనక నిన్ను కాపాడేది నీ తల్లి మాత్రమే.
English:
Even the Sun and the Moon, whom we adore as Gods, do not protect us 24 hours. One appears during morning and when he disappears, another appears. Only mother can protect you twenty fours a day.
87.
పాత రుచులు బోయె మోత పాస్తా దాయె
మంచి రుచులు బోయె రుచి పిజ్జ యాయెనే
వెతలు బడ్డ తాత కతలొ బేతలు డాయెనె
వాణి పలుకు మాట నాదు నోట!
తాత్పర్యము:
పాత రుచులు మరుగున పడిపోయి పాస్తా రుచి మరిగాము. మంచి, మంచి భారతీయ వంటకాలు వదిలేసి పిజ్జా తినడానికి పరుగులు తీస్తున్నాము. ఎన్నో వెతల కోర్చి నీ తండ్రిని, తద్వారా నిన్ను ఇంత వాడిని చేసిన విక్రమార్కుడి కథల్లో భేతాలుడుగా మిగిలి పోయాడు.
English:
The old, delicious tastes have gone into the cupboard and we are after pasta. Good Indian recipes are taboo and we run after pizza. The grandfather, who passed through many tribulations has remained the Vetal in Vikaramarka stories.

సంస్కృ తన్న పడదు సంస్కృత మన్నను
వేప పనికి రాదు చేపె మందు
చెట్టు లన్ని కొట్టి కట్టె భవనములు
వాణి బలుకు మాట నాదు నోట!
తాత్పర్యము (తా):
మన సంస్కృతి పడదు. మన సంస్కృతమంటే ఏవగింపు. మన పెరట్లో వేప చెట్టు మందుకు పనికి రాదు. (అమెరికా వాడు చెప్పాలి) చేప మందు ఇస్తారని మూడు రోజులు పడి గాపులు. మన పర్యావరణం మనకి పనికి రాదు. చెట్టులన్నీ కొట్టేసి పెద్ద భవనాలు కట్టి, నయాగరా జలపతం అందాలని చూస్తూ కూర్చుంటాం.
English:
We do not like our culture. We hate our native language, Sanskrit. We do not protect our environment. We cut tress, forests and construct palatial buildings. Sitting in our cozy homes, we appreciate the beauty of Niagara Falls.

మరక పడదు తెల్ల మడి ధోవతి పయిన
శాస్త్ర మెల్ల జదివి యాత్ర మేల
ముక్కు మూసు కొనగ ముక్తి యొచ్చు నెటుల
వాణి బలుకు మాట నాదు నోట!
తాత్పర్యము (తా):
ఎంత చదివి ఙానం సంపాదించినా, ఎన్ని ప్రవచనాలు చెప్పినా మీ మోహం తగ్గకుండా ఏమి ప్రయోజం? కనీసం తెల్ల ధొవతి పైన మరక పడినా కోపమొస్తుందే మీకు? కేవలం ముక్కు మూసుకుని ధ్యానం చేస్తే ముక్తి వస్తుందా? (నలుగురికీ ఉపయోగ పడే పని చెయ్య వచ్చు కదా?)
English:
Howsoever you are educated, whatever the wisdom you accumulated, if you do not leave attachment to your material possessions, what is the use of preaching others? Even if there is spot on your white dress, you get angry. If you close your nostrils and do meditation will you get salvation? Do something that is useful for the multitude!

తల్లి సదువు తాది తెలివితే టలు మెండు
సొమ్ము లేడ తెత్తు సదువు సాగ
కట్ట మెంత బడ్డ పొట్ట నిండక పోయ
వాణి బలుకు మాట నాదు నోట!
లాప్ టాప్ లో టైపింగ్ నేర్చుకుంటున్న అమ్మాయి మా వాచ్ మాన్ పెద్ద కూతురు. 12వ తరగతి లో 77 శాతంతో ఉత్తీర్ణురాలయ్యి డిగ్రీ లో చేరింది. లాప్ టాప్ మేమే ఆ అమ్మాయికి ఇచ్చాము. ఫీజు కట్టేందుకు ఏవరైనా ముందు కొస్తే, ఆ అమ్మాయి కాలేజీకి పంపవచ్చు, మా ప్రమేయం లేకుండా, దురుపయోగం కాకుండా. అది మా ఇల్లే, హైదరాబాదులో. నేర్పుతోంది వాణి.
తాత్పర్యము (తా):
ఈ పద్యం రాయలసీమ భాషలో రాసింది. ఈ అమ్మాయి తండ్రి మా బిల్డింగులో వాచ్ మాన్. 12 వ తరగతిలో 77 శాతం మార్కులొచ్చయి. నీళ్ళు లేక పొట్ట చేత పట్టుకుని హైదరాబదు వచ్చారు. అతని మాటల్లోనే ” మా తల్లి సానా బాగా సదువుతాది సార్! డిగ్రీలో సేర్చాల. 42 ఏలు అడుగుతా ఉన్నారు. మా సంపాదనలు పొట్ట నిపుకోడానికే సాలటం లేదు” అని.
నేను మొదటి వాయిదా (ప్రిన్సిపాలుకి) పంపుతానని నాలుగు వాయిదాలు తీసుకున్నాను. ఎవరైనా సహాయం చెయ్య దలుచుకుంటే కాలేజీకి డబ్బు పంప వచ్చు. నాకు తెలిపితే నేను వివరాలిస్తాను.
English:
The elder one is the elder daughter of our watchman. She scored 77% in Intermediate. Clever girl. We donated a two year old Acer Laptop and promised the principal that we would pay first installment of Rs.10,000. If anybody feels he/she can help, may contact me.
